Pelvic Healing through Telehealth

I have had many patients ask me recently, "How does telehealth work? Can I still get better without hands-on treatment?" My answer is a definitive "yes!". Research in manual therapy is suggesting that it helps alleviate pain through it's effect on the nervous system, as it's been shown to mainly decrease fear: fear of pain, fear of movement, fear of the pain getting worse. It's also been shown to increase the release of natural feel good chemicals, such as endorphins and opioids. These same effects can be elicited through guided physical therapy, such as breath work, meditation, strength training and movement work.




So if I just download a fitness and meditation app, I'll be fine right? For some individuals, these programs can be very helpful, but for others, they need a tailored approach to care by a practitioner who can take into account their history, the efficiency of their musculoskeletal and nervous system, habits of movement, stress, diet and bowel and bladder habits.
